Both teams were physical. But, both teams had a tough time finishing shots.
As a result, the field hockey teams from Spackenkill High School and Pine Plains duked it out to a 0-0 stalemate on Monday in the Town of Poughkeepsie.
Spartans coach Geri Vasely felt, overall, it was a defensive show.
“My girls played very aggressive. So did Pine Plains,” Vasely said. “I would say both teams played well.”
Both goalies were a big part of why the game ended in a scoreless tie.
Liz Schwoerer made 20 saves for Spackenkill, while Alice Wilser made 13 for the Bombers.

Yet for as dominant as the keepers were, Vasely said neither team was ever in complete control.
“We had possession a lot, but I can’t say either team dominated, it was pretty even both offensively and defensively,” the coach said. “It was pretty much back and forth.”
Spackenkill’s next test is a game against host Rhinebeck on Wednesday. The Hawks will enter with some momentum, having beaten Ellenville by six goals on Monday.
It’s Vasely’s hope her team improves on its shot-taking before its game against Rhinebeck.
“That’s my biggest thing is that we don’t finish,” Vasely said. “We have two more games this week and we need to get (the ball) in the back of the net.”
Likewise, Pine Plains plays its next game on Wednesday. The Bombers will host Rondout Valley, which beat Webutuck 1-0 on Monday.
