The Iron Dukes have made history. Now they are looking to make more.
For the first time in 30 years, the Marlboro High School girls basketball team won a Section 9 Class B title. After making it through the first round of New York State regional play, Marlboro can keep the season alive and reach the state semifinals Saturday.

Marlboro mounts comeback to shock Irvington in state regionals
How they got here: Marlboro won its first Section 9 Class B title since 1986 on Feb. 28 when it beat Spackenkill, 54-35. Sadler poured in 19 points in the victory while Rusk scored 10 and Stephens added nine. The Iron Dukes went on to beat Irvington on Wednesday in the Class B regional final, 61-60, at the Westchester County Center in White Plains. Marlboro trailed by 14 points midway through the final quarter, but closed it out with an 18-2 run to advance.
Mattituck beat Pierson/Bridgehampton 59-52 to win a section championship. It followed with a 37-33 win over Section 8’s Carle Place in the Class B regional semifinals.
What’s next: Marlboro or Mattituck will face the winner of the Seton Catholic Central (Section 4) vs. Westhill (Section 3) game in the state semifinal, which will take place at 11:45 a.m. on Friday, March 11 at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy.
